Stories Behind The Scarves
The Couvertures et Tenues de Jour celebrates the sartorial pride of the equestrian world. Wearing a specific outfit for every event of the day, the horses wear the numbers and colors of their owners. Framed by leather bridles, each horse is dressed in a specific blanket suitable for stables, pre-show, presentation and other occasions.
The Hermès Kosmima scarf, designed by Julia Abadie, draws inspiration from ancient Greek jewelry and the concept of "Kosmos," which signifies universe, order, harmony, and ornament. The design features intricate gold jewelry motifs, reminiscent of Hellenistic pieces, arranged around what is believed to be Artemis, the Greek goddess of flora and fauna. The scarf's name, "Kosmima," itself translates to "jewel" or "anything that beautifies".
The Hermès Ex Libris à Carrreaux scarf, designed by Hugo Grygkar, tells the story of the brand's history and love for books and equestrian design. It features Émile-Maurice Hermès' personal ex-libris (bookplate) at its center, surrounded by horse-drawn carriages inspired by the house's archives. This design, created in 1946, encapsulates the essence of Hermès, blending its founder's passion for books and the brand's equestrian heritage. The central motif is Émile-Maurice Hermès' personal ex-libris, a stamp used to identify his books. This ex-libris, featuring a "duc attelé, groom à l'attente" design by Alfred de Dreux, became the emblem of the house and is even used on the orange packaging.
