Story Behind The Scarf

The Hermès Les Sangles scarf tells a story of the brand's equestrian heritage and the functional beauty of saddlery details. Inspired by a catalog of stable equipment from the late 19th century, the scarf features a design of girth straps (sangles in French) that were used to secure blankets on horses. The scarf's creator, Joachim Metz, found inspiration in the restrained elegance of these straps, as depicted in an album from Camille et fils, a Parisian saddler.
